Information about the areas covered by Central Georgia MLS (CGMLS)
CGMLS serves cities from just south of Warner Robins to just north of Milledgeville. Warner Robins has a population of about 77,617 people, and it is rapidly expanding. The city’s growth over the years is partially due to the suburbanization of nearby Macon. Macon is known as the “heart of Georgia”, as it is located directly in the state’s geographic center. The central city is Georgia’s fourth-largest city, with a population of around 153,159. The highest point in the state is Brasstown Bald at 1,458 feet, and the lowest point is the Atlantic Ocean.
Warner Robins is home to “planes, trains, and heroes”, which all encompass the southern charm of this central city. Robins Air Force Base, a major U.S. Air Force maintenance and logistics complex, is located just east of the city. The Air Force Base is also one of the largest employers in the state of Georgia, providing over 25,000 employment opportunities. Warner Robins also offers history buffs an exciting experience at the Museum of Aviation, the largest tourist attraction in Georgia outside the city of Atlanta.
Just north of Warner Robins, Macon provides a rich Georgia history with plenty of activities for nature lovers. Located along the Ocmulgee River, Macon has plenty of opportunities for kayaking, canoeing, and hiking. The central Georgia city has many parks, historic sites, and museums that celebrate Macon’s culture and history. Ocmulgee Mounds National Historic Park, Fort Benjamin Hawkins, and the Cannonball House are a few destinations that display Macon’s past. Macon also offers year-round festivals, the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame, and several universities that add to the vibrant and growing culture of downtown.
Central Georgia’s climate can be defined by warm springs and summers, crisp fall days, and pleasant winters. Macon and the surrounding areas have a summer high of 92°F and a winter low of 34°F. The area receives around 46 inches of rain per year, but doesn’t receive much snowfall, if any.
