The Golden Isles of Georgia is located along the 100-mile coast of Georgia and includes four barrier islands and the mainland port city of Brunswick. Brunswick was named one of the five original ports of entry for the original thirteen U.S. colonies. The largest of the four islands is St. Simons, which has a population of over 14,000. The highest point in Georgia is Brasstown Bald at 1,458 feet, and the lowest point in the state is the Atlantic Ocean.

The Golden Isles offer residents their own little corner of paradise in an area with distinct southern charm. The rich history and pristine coastlines allow for families to have plenty of opportunities to explore, enjoy the beach, or learn something new. The mainland port of Brunswick retains its original grid plan from 1771, containing several 19th century homes and historic landmarks. Along the river, Mary Ross Park frequently hosts farmer’s markets, concerts, weddings, and festivals for some nice weekend activities. Just off of the mainland, Jekyll Island and St. Simons island are both home to resorts, golf courses, nature centers, and miles of beaches. The Georgia Sea Turtle Center on Jekyll is a rehabilitation center for Sea Turtles and is open year-round, providing guests with exhibits, turtle viewings, and educational programs. Over on St. Simons Island, family homes and condos are located along the coastline where residents can enjoy paddleboarding, a walk, bike ride, and other outdoor activities. The St. Simons Lighthouse and Museum has been in operation since 1872 and is the center for surrounding piers, restaurants, parks, and local boutiques on the island.

The Golden Isles have a climate that makes for hot summers and mild winters, with windy gusts frequently coming in from the coast. The summer high can rise to 91°F, and the winter low is around 42°F. The warm group of islands see little to no snow throughout the year, and have an average of 48 inches of rain.
