New Orleans, commonly referred to as Nola, is well known for a vibrant nightlife down Bourbon Street and it’s world-famous Mardi-Gras celebrations. However, there is more to New Orleans than parades and parties. The city offers historic architecture, 19th century mansions, and local cuisine that is ranked some of the best in the country. The historic French Quarter provides a scenic walk through New Orleans’ past, displaying the city’s culture through festivals, museums, and more annual events. As the birthplace of jazz, Nola has been known to create music history, producing artists such as Louis Armstrong and Frank Ocean. Many places in the city take pride in displaying the role that New Orleans has played in the entertainment industry. Away from the heart of the city, New Orleans also offers beautiful parks, gardens, and nature centers for outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy. From enjoying a nature walk in the morning to running around the lively downtown streets at night, it’s no wonder that New Orleans is one of the top ten most-visited cities in the United States.
New Orleans and the surrounding areas experience mild winters and hot, humid summers. The high temperatures in July can rise to 92°F, while the low temperatures in the winter can fall to 45°F. The southern city sees about 64 inches of rainfall per year and little to no snowfall.
