The United States Office of Management and Budget has included Nags Head in the Virginia Beach-Norfolk-Newport News, VA-NC Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is the 2nd most populous area in the US state of North Carolina and the 37th metropolitan statistical area (MSA) in the United States.
