Aside from the glitz and glamor of Hollywood, Los Angeles is home to eleven professional sports leagues, making it a prime destination for sports-lovers as well. While much of the economy is fueled by the entertainment industry, Los Angeles is also home to three Fortune 500 companies and many of the nation's largest companies have their headquarters there.
The Southern California area is known for sunny days and very little rain. The summer high is a warm 84°F, while the winter low falls to about 46°F. The sunny cities do not receive much snowfall, if any, and receive an average of 16 inches of rain per year.
