While a majority of REALTORS are from the previously mentioned areas, NorthstarMLS has completed over 106,000 real estate transactions in all Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, North and South Dakota counties. NorthstarMLS’ mission is to provide agents and brokers with efficient and reliable access to resources that benefit both buyers and sellers. The Regional Multiple Listing Service of Minnesota (RMLS) oversees NorthstarMLS.

In its mission to be the best agent and broker resource for REALTORS in the Minnesota and Wisconsin markets, NorthstarMLS has continued to introduce new tools, data, and processes that allow their members to have the best and most efficient technologies possible. Not only has NorthstarMLS been the sole MLS provider for Minnesota and Wisconsin REALTOR associations, but it has also been the Common Data Platform solution for several Iowa REALTOR associations as well.

In 2020, NorthstarMLS facilitated over $32.4 billion in real estate sales and provided more than 19,000 active listings for participating real estate professionals. As the largest MLS in the state of Minnesota, many REALTOR associations are gravitating toward joining NorthstarMLS including Southeast Minnesota REALTORS and MARIS MLS in recent years.

IDX (or Broker Reciprocity) is a program that allows MLS Participants to display listings from other brokerages on their own agent and office websites. Simply put, the IDX program manages the listing search utilities on internet displays owned and operated by local agents and offices. The National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) created IDX and gives each MLS a strict set of guidelines on participation in the program and the display of the listings.
